Days out near Malton Grange and Brickyard Lakes
Two of our Parks, Malton Grange and Brickyard Lakes, are very near to each other in a fabulous part of North Yorkshire that’s known for its food scene. As well as award-wining restaurants, there’s also a wealth of other things to do in the area and the famous North Yorkshire Moors is only a short drive away.
Neighbouring market towns include Malton, Helmsley and Kirkby Moorside – plus, there are endless options along the coast. If you’re looking for things to do when you’re at these Parks, you definitely won’t be disappointed.
Whitby and West Cliff Beach
West Cliff Beach is the main beach in Whitby. It’s a classic ‘bucket and spade’ location, with two miles of beautiful flat sand and bright beach huts, which are available for hire, as are deckchairs and windbreaks. The size of this beach makes it ideal for ball games, kite flying, and paddling.
Brimham Rocks
Visit these weird and wonderful giant rock formations, created by an immense river over 100 million years before the dinosaurs walked the earth. Brimham Rocks and its heather moorland are both Sites of Special Scientific Interest and are a magnet for geologists, naturalists, climbers and walkers, as well as families who love the freedom to explore this amazing place.
Castle Howard
Castle Howard is a privately-owned stately home that’s partially open to the public. You can spend happy hours exploring woodland paths, picnicking by the lake and discovering flowers in the Walled Garden. Ride the land train through the grounds to the lakeside play area and let off steam on the swings, slides, towers and bridges of the high-energy Adventure Playground.
Flamingo Land Resort
Flamingo Land is a Theme Park, Zoo and Holiday Village in one with magnificent views over Ryedale and the Yorkshire Moors, but it’s best known as the largest amusement park in North England. It has lots to offer families, from its range of junior rides and the Peter Rabbit playground, to the 140 animal species in the zoo.
