Buyers guide: What’s involved in buying a holiday home?

We know that buying a holiday home is an important decision and that you want to understand what’s involved. So, we’ve outlined the main stages for you, below.

And, of course, we’re also on hand to answer your questions and guide you through the process. You’ll be getting the keys to your new holiday home before you know it!

Step 1 Choosing the right park

The first step is to choose which of our holiday parks you’d like to own a holiday home on. Think about which one suits how you like to spend your holidays, and the amount of time you’re willing to spend traveling from home to get there.

If you’re a keen golfer, then Allerthorpe is probably the one for you. Fishing fanatics will appreciate the stocked fishing lakes at Brickyard. And foodies will love Malton Grange and its proximity to the restaurants and markets of Malton, the food capital of the north.

Maybe you’re looking for something really rural or you want to wake up to the sounds of water. Whatever your needs, we have a number of parks in stunning locations across Yorkshire, each with its own unique features.

Step 2: Choosing your holiday home

Once you’ve chosen your holiday park, you can arrange a personal tour with a member of our team. They’ll show you around all the holiday homes and pitches available on that site, and help you decide what size and layout of home is best for you.

Whether you’d like a 3-bed home in a quiet woodland location, a 2-bed with a lakeside view, or your only priority is easy access to the golf course and a heated hot tub, we’ll help you find your perfect holiday retreat.

It might be helpful to make a list in advance of all your needs so we can talk them through with you.

Step 3: Organising the finances

If you do decide to buy one of our holiday lodges, we’ll talk you through all the costs, including upkeep, so you know exactly what’s involved.

  • Annual site fees
  • Gas and electricity
  • Insurance – we can provide recommendations for some excellent third-party providers
  • Minimum initial deposit of 5% to secure your holiday home, with the rest of the payment paid through finance or part-exchange options.

We offer part exchange deals on any old or new holiday home or static caravans, regardless of age, condition or location. Talk to us for more details.

Financing your holiday home can seem stressful, but it doesn’t have to be. We’re here to help. Whether you’re looking to manage the deposit or look into loan options, we work with several financial advisors who can help you find the right package.

Step 4: Get your keys, move in and enjoy

This is the bit we’ve all been waiting for! We hand over the keys and you get to move in and start making the most out of your leisure time!

Of course, we don’t just abandon you at this point! On moving day, we’ll come and make sure you’re settling in ok and that you know how to use all the appliances and features of your new home. And, beyond that, you only have to ask if there’s anything you need.
